How did you get started doing what you do?
Back in 2009 my aunt started showing me how to use her camera. I was intrigued and started doing my own research. In 2012 I was second shooting weddings and did my first solo wedding. By 2015 I was attending Brooks Institute School of Photography. Now here I am running my own business in wedding photography.
Who or what continues to inspires you?
The community we have here on the central coast. Running your own business is a roller coaster of ups and downs. But, having this community has been life changing. Not only seeing these vendors keep pushing through these crazy seasons, but the passion they have for their craft is so inspiring and helps me to stay motivated.
What makes your business unique?
What makes my business unique is that I am here to capture emotions, something that CAN'T be posed. Often times weddings become about the photos... when in turn it should be about you and your day being captured. Not only am I authentic with my posing, but my warm and earthy editing style brings joy to the images. It creates art out of a moment that will be cherished for a lifetime.
BUT, most of all I value relationships. I am by your side for the majority of the wedding day, so I want to make sure that I build that relationship with you so you can have a more personable experience. I want to walk into the room and have you feel like a friend just walked in rather than a stranger.
How would you describe your ideal couple?
My ideal couple would be down for any adventure. Jumping in the water fully clothed, going for a hike, carefree/free-spirited kind of people. People who are willing to have some fun and laugh a lot. These people would be more drawn to muted tones, and earthy colors. They enjoy simplicity but elegance. They are coffee connoisseurs, food lovers, adventurous folk but mostly crazy in love.
Favorite part of a wedding?
My favorite part is usually the vows, the father of the bride toast, the mother son dance, and of course for the sake of photos "sunset pictures." I build this relationship with my couples, that it's like I gained two new friends. So when the time comes to watch them commit their love to each other through their vows, it gets me every time! I'm a daddy's girl, and a boy mom which explains the toast and the dance. I'm a secret cryer and if you catch me during these moments you will not see dry eyes.
Why do you do what you do?
I am passionate about building relationships, creating experiences for clients while capturing those memories in the form of a keepsake.
What question do you always ask the Bride & Groom?
What's your favorite thing to do as a couple? I feel this can really tell a lot about who they are.
What would you say is your greatest accomplishment?
Starting and pursuing my dream as a wedding photographer, while also being able to financially support my family.
What do you enjoy doing on your day off?
Day off? I'm a mom to two toddlers, an entrepreneur, and a wife. There is no days off. But, in all seriousness I love spending time with my family. Getting lunch or dinner, going to the park, readying to my boys, teaching them life skills like cooking or doing chores.
Tell us about your first job?
I worked and managed a 50's soda fountain bar serving traditional ice cream sodas at the age of 15.
Tell us one thing few people know about you?
I'm a secret introvert. Many know me as an extrovert for my bubbly and loud personality show off almost immediately, but I secretly would rather be home and alone or with very few people.
Wedding trend that you're loving right now?
I absolutely love that clients are having their first dance as a couple immediately after their grand entrance. It flows so nice with the evening. It doesn't allow for any awkward transitions, and your guest just hyped you up so the hype and excitement plays well into that first dance.
Wedding trend that will hopefully be out next year?
probably the garter toss... as much as I had fun with it at my wedding it can be a cringy one to watch haha.
Proverbs 31:25 - She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.
A verse but still a quote I live by, so much so that I have a tattoo of it on my arm.
What's in the top 5 on your bucket list?
1 - Travel to Paris
2 - Take a hot air balloon ride
3 - Attend the Olympics
4 - Go great white shark watching
5 - Sleep under the northern lights
Where do you see yourself (or business) in the near future?
I originally wanted to stay local to the central coast, but more recently I've had the desire to become a destination wedding photographer. That is where I currently see my business headed.
