A mini-moon, as you might guess, is typically a smaller version of the traditional honeymoon. Whether you go for a shorter length of time or stick closer to home, these are a great way to celebrate and relax with your parter, as well as great excuse for a vacation. While there are plenty of popular destinations sought out by all sorts of travelers, the Central Coast of California is a great option to add to your list. Keep reading for mini-moon destinations along the Central Coast.

Carmel by the sea

This charming and unique European-Style town makes for a lovely mini-moon destination. As you stroll through this fairytale-like village that is home to many creatives of all kinds, check out the many shops and art galleries, or stop by one of the delicious restaurants and wine tasting rooms. 

Take a short trip outside of town to visit the beautiful Point Lobos State Reserve for a scenic hike or walk. This is also a great place to view some wildlife! If the beach is more your speed, head over to Carmel Beach or Carmel River State Beach to watch the sunset, surf, or lay out. 

Big Sur 

Take the scenic cliffside route on Highway 1 down to Big Sur, which is nestled between the Santa Lucia Mountains and the Pacific Ocean. Notably one of the most beautiful places in the US, Big Sur offers many different activities and sites to see. 

Perfect for any couple that loves adventure (however don't worry, there is plenty of relaxing as well!), offers a variety of hikes through the redwoods or along the coastal bluffs and many other sites to see. 

Make sure to check out one of the amazing restaurants such as the historic Nepenthe, located on the top of a cliff, or a popular site like Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park.

Cambria / San Simeon 

Spend the weekend in the picturesque coastal towns of Cambria & San Simeon. Spend the day at one of the many beaches and preserves this area has to offer, or take a day to visit Hearst Castle.

These small towns are perfect for all nature lovers who are looking for a relaxing weekend that involves some exploring.

Paso Robles

Head inland to Paso Robles for the beautiful rolling hills and hundreds of wineries. Stroll the the Field Of Light at Sensario for a romantic evening with your partner, go for a hike, or take a dip in the natural hot springs. 

Known for its wine, Paso Robles is the perfect place to visit a handful of vineyards and tasting rooms. There are also a couple breweries to visit as well!

San Luis Obispo 

This beautiful town on the Central Coast has lots to offer, from a cute downtown, lots of actives, great accommodations and even better food, it makes for a perfect mini-moon location. 

Only a short drive away from other towns like Paso Robles, Morro Bay, Pismo Beach and Avila, there is an endless supply of things to explore. Take a hike on Madonna or Bishop Peak, dine at one of the gourmet restaurants, and soak up all that this town has to offer.

Santa Ynez 

Further down South, take a stop in Santa Barbara's wine country, Santa Ynez Valley. Similar to our other Central Coast locations, this town offers a variety of hikes, wine tasting, and a handful of nearby communities to check out as well.

The last destination on our list is Santa Barbara. Known for its laid back beach vibe, incredible food, and much more, this popular vacation destination makes for a perfect place to call home for your mini-moon. Perfect for all ages and all interests, you will never run out of things to do. 

Check out State Street for endless shopping and to experience some oof the culinary magic this town has to offer. While you walk around, pay attention to the Spanish Colonial architecture that this are his known for, or stop by one of the many artisan marketplaces to support local artists. 

Like most spots on the Central Coast, Santa Barbara is also a popular destination for wine enthusiasts across the globe, so make sure to relax at one of the wineries or tasting rooms.
