It was a serene day in San Luis Obispo, and Natalie and Cole decided to tie the knot in the same area they met for the first time. The day was played out beautifully at Flying Caballos Ranch and Heyday Weddings was there to help with every shining detail. I had the pleasure of interviewing the bride about the day!

Their Love Story

"We met at Cal Poly on the first night of move in, freshman year! Over the course of a few years, our circles grew closer through mutual friends and we finally started dating. We shared mutual love for adventures and outdoors. The central coast was the perfect way to get to know each other through long hikes, camping, and beach trips. Not to mention, we also love craft beer and tasty wine! On our 6 year anniversary, Cole surprised me with a beautiful proposal on a scenic hike surrounded in the redwoods of Big Sur. We chose to get married where it all stared, in SLO."

The Inspiration

"Flying Caballos Ranch was so gorgeous and we wanted to highlight its beauty and scenes, so we kept it simple with decor. We liked natural greens with a pop of floral color. We wanted to keep things timeless, not too trendy. Relaxed modern is what we came up with!"

Color Palette

"Base of green and neutrals. Pop of peach/light pinks/coral for florals."

The Details

"The food!! Haute Skillet is fabulous, we knew they were a great fit at first look of their menus. They indeed delivered with excellent taste, service, and our guests could not stop talking about how delicious it was!"

Memorable Moments

"Dancing! We had so much fun (and time) to spend on the dance floor with our friends and family. Everyone had been practicing their dance moves, and we sure got to experience the best. Another stand out moment was getting the opportunity to sit side by side, as newly weds, at our sweetheart table and watch our friends and family enjoy/converse at dinner."

Knowing what you know now... what advice would you have for other brides planning their wedding?

"Enjoy the process, it comes and goes in a blink of an eye!"

What was the most challenging part about planning your wedding?

"The guest list. It was challenging managing bride/grooms expectations versus family's expectations with the guest list."
