Their Love Story

"We first met at a mutual friend's party during college where we were both attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison. We made some small talk and ended up leaving and going out with different friends that night and wound up at the same bar at the end of the night where we couldn't stay away from each other. We talked for hours that night and Max asked Brooke to brunch the next day. Ever since then, we haven't stopped hanging out! We've been together for 7 and a half years (since October 2014) and have experienced a wide range of things including graduating from college, starting our careers, moving to San Francisco after school, making new friends, quitting our jobs to travel around Europe for 3 months together, traveling to various places like Chile, Argentina, Italy, France, and much more, and weathering the pandemic together. Max popped the question in January 2021 during peak COVID times while we were living in Santa Monica. Despite working remotely and being together 24/7 at the time, Max was able to make it a surprise. We met Brooke's brother for a hike in Palm Springs and Max proposed at a beautiful creek during the hike and turned what Brooke thought was a day trip into a romantic weekend getaway."

The Inspiration

"We knew we wanted to get married in California since it is our favorite place. We also loved the feeling of outdoor weddings and knew we wanted an outdoor, airy, and elegant while also laid back vibe. We drove up the California coast looking at venues all over LA, SLO, and SF and when we stumbled upon the town of Paso Robles and CaliPaso Winery we knew we found what we were looking for. We loved the intimate feeling the venue had and how naturally beautiful it was with no decorations at all. We also loved that Paso and the central coast was a little off the beaten path and a unique location full of beauty and so much for our guests to do. Part of what inspired our Tuscan and Italian style wedding was a trip we took to Italy in 2018. It was our favorite trip we had ever taken and we fell in love with the food, wine, and the relaxed and happy vibes of daily Italian living. Our wedding theme was definitely inspired by that trip - notably having Aperol spritzes and gelato."

The Details

"My brother made handmade porcelain napkin rings for each guest's place setting, I was excited to serve Aperol Spritzes, and my mom also had a custom robe made entirely out of her wedding dress that I got ready in."

The Memorable Moments

"Magical moments from the day included all the small times that Max and I got to take everything in together. During our first look we wrote one another personal expressions about what we meant to each other and we read them to one another with just the two of us right before the ceremony. We also ate at our own sweetheart's table which was an amazing moment to enjoy our first meal together as husband and wife and look out at all the people from our lives feeling completely overwhelmed with love. We also got to take sunset photos with just the two of us which felt like heaven on Earth watching the sunset together being able to take everything in. Lastly, we got to have an after party until 4 in the morning at the venue with all of our close friends and family which was a blast! Brooke even put her feet in the hot tub while still wearing her wedding dress."
