When moody meets bohemian you know you are in for a uniquely rich wedding. Organic textures, green foliage, pampas grass, and the bride's handcrafted pieces inspired this bohemian Dana Powers House wedding. While the bride, designed a large portion of the day, from her handcrafted linen napkins, to the florals, and beyond, San Luis Obispo wedding photographer Milk & Thistle captured it perfectly. With the help of many other amazing vendors including wedding planner Nanci Bernard, this wedding was more than a success. We got to a hear a little bit more from the photographer herself, on how she was able to capture this lovely couple, along with what inspired her.
Words from the photographer, Carlee Tatum of Milk & Thistle Photography : "I went for more unposed photos and let the images come to life by documenting the day as it truly happened. I wanted to show the deeply romantic and natural feel of the wedding especially between the bride and groom."
What were some details and memorable moments that stuck out to you? "I really loved the head table and triangle shelving unite which Loren's dad had built for their day. I also was drooling over Loren's dress, its minimal but with such a statement. For memorable moments, the toasts given at the wedding were very personal and you could truly feel the love between the families. Its really special to see families all come together to create a drama free environment that everyone can focus on celebrating the bride and groom."
How did this wedding differ from other weddings you have been apart of? "California barn weddings are almost always a given these days. However they took the barn and gave it a more modern and updated feel and shied away from the shabby chic or country feel."
How did the wedding design express the couple's personality or love story? "The couple had been together since they were 15. Their love is natural and organic as they have experienced most of the big stepping stones of their live together. They are in love and its as simple as that. Their wedding design followed the same simple and elegant feel.
Which wedding artists knocked your wedding shoes off and why? "Chefs table catering is absolutely amazing. Their food really stands out amongst the rest and they did a fabulous job for Loren's taco bar."
