Emily and Kurt had the perfect Central Coast wedding. Located in charming Nipomo, CA, the Dana Powers Barn was the ideal spot for this wonderful couple. Mixed with elegance and rustic charm, this day could have not been any better. Add a tandem bike in the picture for a completed look of this couples' childlike glee. The talented Cameron Ingalls was there to capture the details of the great joy and love this couple had for one another. Enjoy!

Girl Meets Boy...

-->Kurt and I both grew up in San Luis Obispo. Our childhood paths crossed often, but it wasn't until a cold January night in 2005 that we "met" through long time mutual friends. Our friendship and love quickly grew over the years. Kurt asked me to be his wife on a sunrise hike at the top of San Luis Mountain. It was one of the most precious moments in our story.

-->Our ceremony will always have a special spot in my heart! Our very dear family friend, Tom Bass, married us. Having someone that knew us as individuals and as a couple, made it so personalized and intimate. We also know that we have Tom to watch, guide and mentor throughout our life as husband and wife. After all, he knows our vows as well as we do!

The dance floor had many memorable moments! I come from a family who loves to dance! At one point my big brother and Kurt's brother were having a dance off surrounded by all of my fabulous bridesmaids! Even my father got in on the action! Knowing that everyone that loves us was having an enjoyable time was the best feeling!

-->We wanted our wedding to be rustic, yet elegant. We wanted to mix soft lace with rough burlap. The Dana Powers barn sold me with the wagon wheel chandeliers hanging beautifully next to the antique crystal chandeliers.

It was also very important to us to make our guests feel special and welcomed, as each of them has played an important role in our lives. We wanted to give them the feeling of a giant family dinner and for them to feel and see our love for each other and them.

Color Palet...

-->We chose a very neutral palate for our day. Champagnes, whites, creams and natural wood browns were found everywhere. My bridesmaids wore champagne colored dresses that they each liked and found in local stores. The groomsmen each were gifted a champagne tie. Our flowers were white hydrangeas, roses and my favorite, sweet peas.

-->The cupcake trailer from Enjoy Cupcakes! Picking only four flavors was one of the hardest choices I had to make. Everything these bakers create is amazing! I had cupcakes for our first breakfast, and I'm not ashamed to say that!

Riding our red tandem cruiser is our favorite mode of transportation around town. Kurt's mother gave us a 'just married' sign early in our planning stage. I was so excited to have Kurt put it on our bike for that day!

RADDEST Wedding Vendors...

-->Can I say ALL of them? My mom and I agreed that we wanted to hire a wedding planner to assist us in the big and little details and especially the day of. We interview a few, but were confident in our choice of the girls from Events Redefined. Niki and Jonell reminded me of my two best friends. They were the perfect mix of business and fun.

Kurt and I were pretty flexible when selecting a wedding date. The only criteria we had was that the day had to be during a summer month and Cameron Ingalls had it available. We immediately fell in love with his calm presence, easy directions and knowledge and beauty of his craft.

Mom and I are "paper-people". We much prefer writing a hand written letter then typing an email. My family has worked with Jessica and her team from Paper Sky, for many different projects, so it was never really a question. We love her attention to details, creativity and the thousands of options she had available to us.

Russ and Heather Thomas of Two Cooks Catering are two fabulous people. Every bite was as delicious as I remembered it at our tasting. Russ also baked our simple cutting cake and it was hands down, the best carrot cake ever!

Melik, our DJ, really "held our hands" during the music talks. Not knowing much about music, We told him what types of music we enjoyed and he just ran with it. We loved how the great music he played was our only clue that a DJ was even there.

Nikki from Fluidbloom was also amazing. Her delicate floral arrangements were the perfect complement for the rustic barn.

-->Have fun! But don't lose sight of the reason for all of this. A wedding is just one day, but your marriage is a lifetime.
